Mr and Mrs Nasi Lemak has relocated from French Road to my hood at Tiong Bahru effective today, 1st April. (No, not an April Fool's joke).
They have taken over the space at the Seng Poh Road coffeeshop previously occupied by Loo's Hainanese Curry Rice which has since moved to Tiong Bahru Market.
One obvious change in their Nasi Lemak is the use of Basmati rice instead of the Jasmine grains used in the previous outlet. Some of the dishes, like Sambal Petai, are also no longer on the menu.
@ashinthekitch and I ordered the original Nasi Lemak Set ($5) which comes with fried chicken wing, sunny-side-up egg, ikan bilis and achar and the kunning fish set ($5) with 3 pieces of kunning, begedil, sunny-side-up egg and achar.
Added to the set are chicken drumstick ($3), roast pork ($1.80), deep fried pork belly ($1.70), handmade otah ($1.70) and curry cabbage ($1).
We are impressed with what we have today. The long grain rice is cooked just nice, the sweet sambal chili is on point and the various dishes are fresh, warm and delicious. Everything a good plate of Nasi Lemak should have.
There are at least 4-5 Nasi Lemak stalls at the nearby Tiong Bahru Market but I feel this new stall can definitely give the others a good run for their money.
